Kenny Kong: There has been glimpses of the Sir Alex era MUFC since the lockdown, barring the FA Cup game.
Let’s see if Ole can keep this style of play and form going into the next season. If he can and get the right players in, it’s going to be intriguing.

  2. ‘Man Utd going in the right direction’

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

    Karen Carney

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

From the get go Manchester United showed how sharp they were and wanted it. They were clinical. Brighton were very negative in the first half.

A wonderful Manchester United performance, individual good performances. They are looking very strong and going in the right direction.

  3. ‘We are fighting for a CL place’

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes to Sky Sports: “The most important thing is the three points but we played well and the result was good. We didn’t concede again which is important. David de Gea made two or three amazing saves, we are very happy.

“We knew that we needed to push forwards and to try and score from minute one. I was lucky with the first goal and the second goal was amazing, an amazing pass from Mason.

“We are fighting for a place in the Champions League and we know we can achieve this. I don’t want to talk too much about me and Paul Pogba, we are happy to play together but I am happy to play with everyone. We can combine together, we have qualities, but we know that we have team-mates who can do well.”

  4. Good start

    Bruno Fernandes has
been directly involved in eight goals in his first eight league games for Man
Utd (five goals, three assists) – only Robin van Persie has had more goal
involvements (nine) after as many games at the start of his Premier League
    career with the club.

  5. FULL-TIME

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Brighton were actually much, much better in that second half and would have got one back if it wasn’t for David de Gea but Manchester United are starting to purr and Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood were excellent.

  6. ‘Fernandes my MoM’

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

    Karen Carney

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Bruno Fernandes could have played 10 minutes and I would have given him man of the match. He is just so exquisite and it has been a privilege to watch him play. The difference he has made to this Manchester United team – unbelievable.

  7. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Go on! Go for goal! Shouts someone from the Manchester United bench as Brandon Williams drives down the left. He’s been positive since he came on but he passes inside and the chance is gone.

  8. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

I’ve just been reminded that I’ve forgotten to put how many minutes have gone in every entry, it’s a bit late to start now but we’re into the 90th…

  9. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

A lack of confidence? Brandon Williams’ ball over the top sends Daniel James in beyond the Brighton defence, he should just run in and shoot but he hesitates, cuts inside and can only just squeeze off a weak effort. He then has another, better shot seconds later but Mat Ryan can pat it down.

  10. CLOSE!

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Unorthodox, Scott McTominay hits a shot on the bounce that Mat Ryan juggles. I thought he made a bit of a mess of that but in fact it took a whacking deflection just in front of him and he actually made a very good reaction save.

    Credit where it’s due.

  11. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Aaron Mooy is on for Brighton and he hits a cracking ball over the top for Aaron Connolly to chase. He’s one on one with Brandon Williams but the young defender does well to stay with him and then make a challenge.

  12. Get involved

    Mason Greenwood

    Copyright: PA Media

Abdul Momodu: Greenwood is my MOTM. Fantastic footballer, quick feet. 18years?

AJ Vergette: What we’ve seen from Greenwood tonight is the edge between him and Dan James. Not only a man extremely gifted, but a man confident enough to play on strengths. A must for the next few starting XI’s

  13. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka flies up on the overlap, full pace, hits a cross on the run and Yves Bissouma wears it full in the crotch. The noise that made in an empty stadium was seriously worrying.

    OUCH.

  14. SUBSTITUTION

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Now Odion Ighalo is on for Anthony Martial, who was pretty quiet up front for Manchester United this evening.

  15. GREAT SAVE!

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Another really good save! Brighton deserve a goal for their second-half showing, they have looked much more like it. The ball breaks for Neal Maupay on the edge of the area, his instant shot takes a deflection and is flying in until David de Gea sticks out a hand and makes his second good stop of the night.

  16. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Shane Duffy attacks the corner with real purpose and meets it well, but heads it wide. 50p head.

  17. ‘Better from Brighton’

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

    Karen Carney

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I know they conceded to a wonderful goal but since the break Brighton have been a lot more positive. I have been enjoying their movement. It is definitely more their style this second half, they were too negative in the first half. They’ve had opportunities in this half but just not hit the target.

  18. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Daniel James has snuck on for Marcus Rashford while I wasn’t looking, but it’s Brighton who win a corner. Good defending from Nemanja Matic.

  19. Post update

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Defeat here – and it looks like being one – would leave Brighton six points clear of trouble with six games to play. Safe?

  20. GREAT SAVE!

    Brighton 0-3 Manchester United

Crikey what a save! There’s that shot on target for Brighton, Aaron Connolly swerving in an effort from 20 yards that was flying into the roof of the net before David de Gea takes off and makes a superb one-handed stop.

Leandro Trossard then shoots wide, very close indeed. The Seagulls have shown a bit since half-time. Much better.
