Watch: British Athletics Championships – 100m finals feature on day one

Awuah wins first 100m heat

Kristal Awuah, who won World Junior bronze over 100m in 2018, win the first heat in 11.58 seconds.

Nicola Caygill is second in a personal best of 11.82 seconds.

Women’s 100m

First up are the early stages of the 100m, the finals of which will be
contested shortly after 20:00 BST tonight.

In the womens’ event
we have two of the bright young things of British sprinting in 22-year-old
Imani Lansiquot (the fastest Briton this year in 11.16) and 18-year-old Amy
Hunt,
who is a junior world record holder over 200m and has a personal best of 11.31 seconds over the shorter distance.

Dina Asher-Smith? The world champion has been keeping a profile lower than a limbo-ing python this season. Her only outing so far has been a 150m race at an open meeting hosted by her club Blackheath & Bromley. She is not on the startline in Manchester.

KJT finishes fourth in Brussels

British heptathlon world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson has just finished fourth in the 100m hurdles at the Diamond League meeting in Brussels.

The 27-year-old ran a seasons-best time of 13.57 seconds. Belgium’s Anne Zagre won in 13.21 seconds.
