  1. Post update

    Andy Zaltzman

    Test Match Special statistician

For the first time this summer I’ve been deprived of my car park view and have a boundary, despite my protestations.

And from that balcony I saw Jason Roy hit a ball in practice and pull an expression of discomfort. I don’t know if he might have aggravated that injury.

  2. Eng 17-1

Malan gets away with another pull, edging the ball fine to the fine leg boundary.

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Davwid Malan was lucky to get away with that. It went high off the shoulder of the bat.

  4. Eng 13-1

    Bairstow 4, Malan 5

Malan follows that boundary by almost skewing a pull to mid-on. It was a faster bouncer from Starc, aimed around the throat.

The Aussies will be the happier of the teams after the first three overs.

  5. Eng 11-1

The good thing for England is they have in-form batsman Dawid Malan at the crease.

He pulls Starc off his hip for the first boundary.

  6. Eng 7-1

I’m already looking down the England batting order thinking a lot relies on these two. Joe Denly at six? Tom Curran at seven? Not ideal.

  7. Post update

    Adam Collins

    BBC Test Match Special

Australia will not want to cede top spot to the old enemy. They’ll really want to win this game.

  8. Eng 4-1

Just 12 runs in three matches in the series for Banton.

Dawid Malan is in. A lovely start from Hazlewood.

  9. Post update

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

A good traditional bit of fast bowling by Josh Hazlewood there – putting it in those areas where the ball can nibble around a bit.

  10. Post update

    Adam Collins

    BBC Test Match Special

Josh Hazlewood got enough movement off the seam to draw Tom Banton forward and find the outside edge.

  11. WICKET

    Banton c Wade b Hazlewood 2 (Eng 4-1)

A series to forget for Tom Banton.

Josh Hazelwood just plonks the ball onto a length, Banton has a swish and edges through to keeper Matthew Wade.

  12. Post update

    Phil Tufnell

Ex-England spinner on BBC Test Match Special

Happy 30th birthday Jos Buttler, if you’re listening. I’m sure he’s not!

  13. Eng 3-0

Josh Hazlewood is sharing the new ball, bowing for the first time in the series. He’s a lovely bowler, Hazlewood, but not one you necessarily think of as a T20 bowler. He’s still got a very good record, however.

  14. Post update

  15. Eng 2-0

Mitchell Starc has joined the headband club for this match – looking like an 80s tennis player.

He ends the over with a lively bouncer.

  16. Dan O’Brien: Picking Denly over Livingstone is a rubbish decision if we’re supposed to be looking to the future of the England team.

  17. Eng 2-0

Banton tests Jonny Bairstow’s hamstrings by calling him through for a quick single. Mitchell Marsh swoops in and hurls a throw at the stumps but misses.

It looks like Marsh has been to the same barber as Adam Zampa. He’s got a cap on but it looks to be hiding a mullet.

  18. jdbluesME: If Australia don’t win tonight given England’s team, they will not have a chance of beating us in T20 World Cup next year.

Gus, Bristol: Only two of our probable top six first choice batsmen are playing, a reat chance to show our strength in depth (come on Banton!).

  19. Not out

Yep. There’s a spike. It may have pitched outside leg stump too.

  20. Post update

I reckon Tom Banton has hit this…
