  1. GOAL – West Brom 1-0 Harrogate

  2. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

First chance of the game. West Brom have a corner which Cedric Kipre heads into the path of Dara O’Shea. The Irishman – the only player to keep his place in the team – takes a touch and volleys wide.

  3. Chris Adams: I want to see WBA aim to win the Carabao Cup this season. Fans want to see their team win something & Albion aren’t going to win the Premier League but could win a cup. Not winning one for 52 years is unacceptable for a club of Albion’s size.

  4. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

Harrogate have a corner but David Button plucks it out of the air.

  5. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

West Brom are sloppy in possession and Harrogate briefly have an opportunity to get into the box – but their pass is wrong and the hosts escape.

  6. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

You wouldn’t know so far this was Premier League v Football League newcomers. It’s probably helped that Harrogate have kept their first XI while the Baggies have made 10 changes.

  7. Post update

All tonight’s games go straight to penalties if they are level after 90 minutes. There were a few notable shootouts last night.

  8. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

  9. Post update

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

No real action yet. Harrogate aren’t looking overawed.

  10. What else is going on?

There is plenty of other football elsewhere tonight too.

Celtic are visiting St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, while Welsh side TNS play B36 Torshavn in Europa League qualifying.

In France, PSG – who are having their worst start to a season since the 1970s – play Metz looking to avoid three league defeats in a row.

There are five Champions League qualifiers too, although no household names involved.

  11. Post update

There was the usual anti-racism knee at kick-off.

  12. KICK-OFF

    West Brom 0-0 Harrogate Town

  13. ‘We have got a strong winning culture’

West Bromwich Albion v Harrogate Town (18:00)

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver to Sky Sports: “The outside world will perceive us to be outsiders tonight but we have to embrace playing at a Premier League ground.

“We don’t want to turn up and not have a go.

“The players wanted the opportunity to play against a team like West Brom.

“We want to win everything. We’ve got a strong winning culture but we can’t get ahead of ourselves – we’ve had one Football League game in our history.”

  14. ‘We are treating this game seriously’

West Brom v Harrogate Town (18:00 BST)

West Brom boss Slaven Bilic to Sky Sports: “We are treating this game seriously but want to try some players who did not play. We have a good team.

“We don’t hide the fact the Premier League is the priority. These guys are absolutely first-team players who played for us last season.

“Harrogate are going to be aggressive. They will give everything. We have to respect them and the competition.”

  15. Post update

West Brom v Harrogate (18:00 BST)

West Brom didn’t have the best start to their Premier League return, losing 3-0 to Leicester.

The last time the Baggies were knocked out of the League Cup at home by a team below the second tier was 1996-97 (Colchester).

Harrogate Town are in their first ever season in the Football League and having a dream start.

They beat Grimsby on penalties on their Carabao Cup debut and then slammed Southend 4-0 away on their EFL bow.

Today is the first time they have ever played a Premier League team – West Brom away.

Simon Weaver has been their manager for 11 years now, taking them up from the sixth tier. His father Irving later became their owner.

Read more about their rise here.

  17. Post update

West Brom v Harrogate Town (18:00 BST)

Lee Peltier signed for West Brom at the end of January. This is his first senior appearance for the club. The former Leeds United defender’s last competitive game was for Cardiff on 12 January against Swansea. If he thinks that’s a lively fixture, wait until he experiences a Black Country derby!

  18. Harrogate unchanged

West Brom v Harrogate Town (18:00 BST)

This is something you don’t see much in the Carabao Cup – an unchanged line-up.

English Football League newcomers Harrogate name the same XI that started the 4-0 win at Southend last weekend.

  19. Ten changes & three debuts

West Brom v Harrogate Town (18:00 BST)

Defender Dara O’Shea is the only survivor from the West Brom side that started the 3-0 home defeat to Leicester on Sunday.

There are debuts for keeper David Button, who joined from Brighton in the summer, former Wigan defender Cedric Kipre and former Leeds and Cardiff defender Lee Peltier.

    Hal Robson-Kanu captains the Baggies.

  20. Post update
