  1. SUBSTITUTION

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Dan Burn is on for Tariq Lamptey. It looks like the youngster has picked up a knock. He’s been brilliant!

  2. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Brighton win the ball back high up the pitch and Leandro Trossard has space to shoot from 20 yards out.

He catches it nicely but it’s straight at Karl Darlow.

  3. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Miguel Almiron just matched Tariq Lamptey tracking back then so I think this has been a good change from Steve Bruce, but it is a change that came too late as the damage had already been done in the first half.

  4. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Newcastle play the free-kick short to Jonjo Shelvey in the middle. He lifts it into the box but Jamaal Lascelles header, from way out, bounces harmlessly wide.

Aaron Connolly then goes up the other end and gets the better of Javier Manquillo before looking back to Solly March for support.

  5. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Leandro Trossard tries to feed it through to Tariq Lamptey but Miguel Almiron does he job tracking back and wins a free-kick.

SMS Message: Re David Huggan – the record for a 20 team Premier League is 43, the 47 goal weekend you reference in 1993 would have had 22 teams. So shall we settle on the record being 2.15 goals per team? from Chris, London

  7. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Brighton fans look away now but this stat may give a ray of hope to Newcastle supporters out there.

On both of the last two occasions Brighton have scored twice in the first half of an away Premier League game, they’ve lost (April 2018 v Palace & January 2019 v Fulham).

  8. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

It’s fizzed in by Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey is in space in the box but it’s a difficult chance for him.

He tries to divert it towards goal with a first-time effort but the volley slices wide.

Newcastle are getting into the right areas though.

  9. Post update

    Chelsea v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

We’ll have team news from Stamford Bridge in just over 15 minutes.

SMS Message: Nufc totally different to last week but Fraser has been bright since he came on. He’s our big hope for the second half. Howay the lads! from Beansy, Northumberland

Nufc totally different to last week but Fraser has been bright since he came on. He’s our big hope for the second half. Howay the lads!

  11. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Javier Manquillo and Ryan Fraser are starting to link-up better down the right. Jamal Lewis hasn’t been able to get forward much on the left but he does so here.

It’s switched back over to the right but the cross is way over Callum Wilson’s head. He’s claiming a foul off Ben White but it’s nonsense.

  12. Post update

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Neal Maupay slips it left to Leandro Trossard, who has made a good overlapping run. He tries to cut it back into the centre but it’s deflected out for a corner.

Karl Darlow does well to gather the resulting set-piece in.

  13. KICK-OFF

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Back under way. Is there a way back for Newcastle?

  14. SUBSTITUTION

    Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Miguel Almiron is on for Andy Carroll. Steve Bruce has made his move.

  16. Post update

    HT: Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Former Brighton & Hove Albion striker Warren Aspinall on BBC Radio Sussex:

I think its one of our best 45-minute away performances for a long time. I always say put the ball in the net and ask questions later.

“Our keeper’s not had a save to make. All 11 players have been excellent. But its only Half-time”

Simon Olivari:Has it ever happened before that the first two weekends of football produced no draws? I know it isn’t over yet but it certainly makes the table look quite funny.

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

The way Brighton play, being in the right wing-back position suits Tariq Lamptey. It gives him the opportunity to get forward and his pace is unreal. Sometimes when you are that quick and you get into positions you don’t always deliver, but he puts in the right pass and the right shot.

  19. Post update

    HT: Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

Neal Maupay has scored multiple goals in a league match for the first time since he netted twice in Brentford’s 2-0 home win against Wigan Athletic in the Championship on 15 September 2018.

  20. Post update

    HT: Newcastle 0-2 Brighton

    Clinton Morrison

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

From minute one Brighton have been outstanding. They have worked hard and it has been a great team performance so far.
